In February 2019, voters in Toledo, OH made history when they voted to pass the Lake Erie Bill of Rights—the first 'rights of nature' law passed by the people in North America. The measure established rights within Toledo's City Charter for the Lake Erie ecosystem to “exist, flourish, and naturally evolve” as well as rights to self-government and a clean and healthy environment for the citizens of Toledo.
We hosted Tish O'Dell from the Community Environmental Legal Defence Fund and Markie Miller from Toledoans for Safe Water on a webinar to discuss how they lead this ground-breaking campaign. Sign up below to gain access to the one hour webinar.
