Connected by the Fraser River and its tributaries, our communities need decision-makers that value water -- our life source.
This region is faced by unique water challenges. From Whonnock resident concerned about commercial groundwater permits issued and the potential threat to their primary water supply, to Pacific salmon and cutthroat trout runs devestatingly low due to low river flows and lack of natural access in the Alouette reservoir, to flood water management and a changing climate. Our communities are interconnected with and impacted by the water that surrounds us.
This is an exciting opportunity to connect with your candidates running in the upcoming provincial election and hear their positions on water-related issues impacting our communities and province.
This event is organized by six local and regional groups interested in water issues. We are the Canadian Freshwater Alliance, Watershed Watch Salmon Society, Fraser Riverkeeper, CEED Centre Society, Golden Ears Transition Initiative and Friends of the Katzie Slough.
